Poonam Kamla Haley

September 18, 1973 — February 2, 2014

Poonam Kamla (Roma) Haley of Dallas, Texas, joined her Lord and Savior on February 2, 2014.

Roma is survived by her daughter, Carlie Alexandra Haley; mother, Premlata Chand; aunt, Christina Das; sister, Sunila Villarreal and her husband, Damian; brother, Joshua Chand and his wife, Anastasia; three nephews, Caleb Chand, Julian Villarreal and Canaan Chand; two nieces, Jade Chand and Jordan Chand; two cousins, Neeraj Goodwin and Dheeraj Goodwin; the father of her daughter, Byron Haley; and numerous other family members.

Roma was born on September 18, 1973 to Rattan and Premlata Chand. She graduated with the Alpha Christian Academy class of 1991, and later completed her Bachelor's of Arts in Speech and Communication at Texas A & M Commerce in Greenville, TX.

Roma proudly served in the United States Navy as an Aviation Electronics Technician stationed at Oceana Naval Air Base in Virginia Beach, VA.

Roma's feisty spirit, captivating smile, and infectious laughter brought joy into the lives of all who knew her. She deeply cherished both her mother and father, and dearly loved her brother and sister. Roma never hesitated to play the "older sister" card, even if she wasn't your sister. She devotedly cheered on the Dallas Cowboys, could quote every Seinfeld episode, enjoyed throwing darts, and took forever when straightening her hair.
Roma's greatest treasure and source of joy in her life is her beloved daughter, Carlie Alexandra.

Although her path was often marked with hardship and suffering, Roma always found a way to smile. Roma's battle was long and hard, but she chose to fight every day for life, peace, and progress; absolutely refusing to surrender. Her struggles did not defeat her, but rather amplified her strength, independence, faith and perseverance. Her legacy of beauty, strength, and courage lives on through her daughter Carlie, who possesses all of Roma's best qualities.

Roma passed peacefully during the late afternoon of February 2, surrounded by friends and family singing praises, offering prayers, and demonstrating their deep love for her. Her faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior brought her health and restoration in Heaven, where she is now singing and dancing with her father. Praise to the Lord Almighty for blessing friends and family with knowing and loving such a beautiful woman as Roma Haley.
