Phyllis Elizabeth Yarnell

Phyllis Elizabeth Yarnell, 89, lost her battle against the cruel disease of Alzheimer's. She was surrounded by loved ones as she passed into the perfect love of her Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. Born to Albert Bryan Varble & Alma Elizabeth (née Wilson) Varble, Phyllis was raised in Dayton, Ohio.

She graduated from Oakwood High School in 1945, and went on to study at DePauw University.

Phyllis married Lloyd Dewitt Yarnell in 1949, and the vows they shared lasted until his death 61 years later. She was a housewife for many years and in later years worked as a Secretary at the University of Texas at Dallas until her retirement. Lloyd and Phyllis raised four children - Sharyn, Bryan, Kim and Lyle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant son, Thomas Dewitt Yarnell; her husband, Lloyd; her grandson, Chase Dewitt Yarnell; her sister, Carol Zaitz; and her brother, Albert Eugene Varble.

Phyllis is survived by: her daughter, Sharyn (John) Art ; her son, Bryan (Debbie) Yarnell ; daughter, Kim (Patrick) Costello; son, Lyle (Evelyn) Yarnell; grandchildren, Stacy (Reed) Polk, Christen ( Dustin) Deavours , Daniel Yarnell; Eden (Scott) Figuerola ; Steven Yarnell ; Sophie (Jordan) Braziel , and Christopher Yarnell; great grandchildren, Rylee and Mason Polk; her brother, Lt. Col. Thomas (Cathy) Varble; sister-in-law, Roberta Rathweg; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 29, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Faith Lutheran Church, 1701 E. Park Blvd., Plano. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 30, 10:30 AM at Faith Lutheran Church in Plano.
