Pauline Danley Crawford

July 11, 1924 — January 8, 2013

Pauline Danley Crawford passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, after being surrounded by her loved ones at Emeritus at Stonebridge Ranch Memory Care Facility.
Pauline was born in Weatherford, Texas on July 11, 1924 to Benjamin Albert and Mattie Lee Danley. In 1926 her family moved to the Rio Grande Valley where she grew up and graduated from San Benito High School. She then began working for Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator. She married Walter L. Crawford and started her family in Harlingen where she raised two daughters. She and Walter were later divorced. In 1975 she moved to Corpus Christi to continue working for AT&T until her retirement in 1989.
She moved to McKinney in 2005 to be near her family. Although most of her adult life was spent working at the phone company, she enjoyed reading, gardening, going to the movies with her grandchildren, eating out with friends, and sitting outside to admire her flowers and the birds that would flock to her bird feeders.
Pauline is survived by daughters Sharon Marie Strong of Redondo Beach, California and Sherryl Sue Sheil and husband Theus (Ted) Sheil of McKinney. Her grandchildren, Chris Sheil and wife Tracey Allen Sheil of McKinney, and Stephanie Sheil and fianc Brandon Gleason of Frisco, also survive her and provided some of the happiest moments of her life. She is survived by five great-grandchildren, Carson, Camryn, Collin and Colton Sheil and Henley Gleason. Pauline is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. While working in Corpus Christi she had the privilege of making two life-long friends, Marjie Dement of Beeville and Rita Lawhorn of Corpus Christi, who also mourn her passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Alvarine Danley, Lucille Danley Morrow, Atlas Danley, Edward Danley, Cecil Danley, Vivan Danley, Clara Mae Danley Watkins and Eugene Danley.
Her family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Dipauni Doshi, the outstanding staff at Emeritus, and especially to Hospice Plus for providing Pauline with tender, loving care.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 19 at 3:00 p.m. at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home at 601 S. Tennessee Street in McKinney.
