Paula McEuen was born on 12/28/1931 at Savoy, TX. She was one of six children in the family of James Henry and Esther Lou Avants Cantrell. The times were tough and she often shared stories of how poor they were. She also spoke of the good times going to church and having fun with her brothers and sisters.
She married young to an Army soldier from WWII, Shelly D. Smith. They had two children, Wilbur and Deborah. Shelly and Paula later divorced. Along the way, she met a gentleman by the name of Luke McEuen and they did marry.
Paula was successful in her business career. She was hired by GTE to be a telephone operator and took early retirement after 20 years service when the company was taken over by Verizon. After a short time, she went back to work for the Garland School District where she worked as a teacher’s aide. When she reached the age of 62 she retired again.
Paula was able to live the American Dream with a measure of success.
She is survived by her two children Wilbur Smith and Deborah Fulton and their spouses La Verne Smith and David Fulton; two grandchildren Derek Fulton and his wife Alex and Drake Fulton and his fiancé Camille; two greatgrand children Emerson and Palmer Fulton; her sisters Renee Joyce Finn and Patsy Sholl; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Dutch Cantrell, Dub Cantrell, Dick Cantrell and Shelly Smith and husband Luke McEuen.
