Paul Vernon Briscoe

May 21, 1922 — April 17, 2015

Paul Vernon Briscoe, formerly of Ponca City and Bethany, Oklahoma, passed away on April 17, 2015, in Wylie, Texas, at the age of 92. He was born on May 21, 1922, to Phillip Lee and Birdie Rice Ashford Briscoe in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He was married to Ponce Marlene Briscoe on December 19, 1943 in Ponca City, Oklahoma.

Paul graduated from Ponca City Senior High School and attended Bethany Nazarene University (Southern Nazarene University). Following a move with his family to Ponca City, Oklahoma, he was employed by Continental Oil Company (Conoco) for the next seventeen years. He then pursued camera repair and started his own camera shop. After a move back to Bethany, Oklahoma, he started his own construction company, doing remodeling and repair of homes. He was a master craftsman and made beautiful cabinets.

From the time Paul was a child, he was always extremely curious and intrigued with how things worked. This curiosity never waned and he was always trying to figure out how machines- computers, cameras, lawn movers, electronic items,worked, and, invariably, he succeeded.

Paul is survived by two daughters, Ponce Peterson and her husband, LeRoy; and Judi Coker and her husband, Don; three sons, Phillip Briscoe and his wife, Connie; Steve Briscoe and his wife, Sherry; and Mark Briscoe; sister, Lou Tatum; 9 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 2 great, great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Marlene, his parents and 2 brothers, Carl Briscoe and Maurice Briscoe.

Paul's Celebration of Life Service is at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, 2925 Fifth Street, Sachse, Texas 75048, with Reverend Kevin Peterson officiating.
