Patricia Kelley

March 21, 1949 — November 18, 2020

Trisha Kelley, sister, wife, mother, and awesome boss-lady, passed away on Wednesday, November 18. She was 71 years old.

Trisha was the youngest of Charles and Midge Kelley's three daughters. As a young person Trisha played tennis and field hockey, but her real favorite sport was show jumping. She had a real gift for not just riding horses, but also training them – her ability to lead by collaboration and bring out the best in others would be a common theme in the rest of her life.

She met future husband David Green at a wedding in 1973. He proposed at that first meeting, but Trisha thought the long-haired hippie was crazy. Still, they stayed in touch, dated and, even though he fed the first meal she cooked him to his dog, eventually married. She kept her maiden name – proving quite the iconoclast in 1974.

Trisha and David had two children. Trisha was a devoted mother who, though she wanted nothing more than to keep her kids close to her, encouraged them to be independent and think for themselves. She tried desperately not to spoil them, but couldn't resist making their favorite "crumby chicken" when they came to visit, or FedExing them birthday cakes when they couldn't.

Her biggest loves were her husband, children, and sisters, but her proudest achievement was a later-in-life career. In 20 years of working at an Arizona GPS manufacturer she rose in the ranks from secretary to head of all project management. It wasn't just her own growth she was concerned with. She was also dedicated in helping to advance the careers of all who she came in contact with.

She is survived by her children Sheila and Leo Green, Leo's wife Rachel Grogan, as well as her sisters Judy Alger and Nancy Boeije. Husband David Green passed away last year.
