Patricia Williams Avant was born August 6, 1939 in El Dorado, Arkansas, one of four children, daughter of Joseph Fred Williams and Herma Jones Williams (Wisenor). Her early years were lived on the family's rural home place near Junction City, Arkansas. She shared many fond memories of life in a much simpler time and place. As a child she attended Mt. Union Baptist Church in Junction City, Arkansas.
In her early teenage years she moved to Gladewater Texas which became her home through her formative years. She attended Gladewater Junior High and High School. Patricia was married and had two children; Charles Earl Avant Jr. and Shirley Elizabeth Avant. Patricia loved being a mother and raising her children. She felt that this was truly her life's calling. In addition to being a devout mother Patricia loved plants and flowers. She could frequently be found tending to her house plants and outdoor flower beds.
Patricia was a devout Christian. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Richardson Texas for many years. As her health declined she had difficulty attending in person but rarely missed a Sunday service on television. Although she lived in Dallas, she was a long time supporter of the First Baptist Church in Gladewater.
Patricia is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Herma and her brother Joe. She is survived by her siblings, Jimmy Ray Williams and Mary Ann Crossland, both of Gladewater, Texas, her former spouse, Charles Earl Avant of Alba, Texas, her two children, Charles Earl "Charlie" Avant (Susan) of Austin, Texas and Shirley Elizabeth Avant, of Richardson, Texas, four grandchildren, Charles Richard "Mac" McCally (Sabon) of Leander, Texas, Meredith Holt McCally of Grapevine, Texas, Laura Nicole Avant of Houston, Texas, and Colin Blake Avant of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and one great-grandson, Harrison Holt McCally.
