Pat Atwood

Pat Atwood, devoted husband, father, and grandfather died June 20, 2024 at his home after several years of illness.  Pat was born April 17, 1941, to Carter and Carrie Atwood in Mason, Texas.  He graduated from Irving High School in 1959.  He went to work for E.H. Reeder Construction Company. He met his future wife Janie Bell and they were married April 13, 1963. 

He then went to work for Janie's father selling Toyota's and worked in new car sales for approximately 40 yrs working for Ken Pruitt Buick, several Toyota dealerships, and Bankston Nissan.  Because Pat always aimed for honestly and integrity and excellent customer service he excelled in his business, winning many awards for sales. 

Pat loved helping people and therefore after being retired for one year he went to work for Garland Independent School District driving a school bus. He was soon driving only field trips and loved the children and teachers he drove.  He drove for GISD 13 years after he retired because he enjoyed this more than any other job.

He and Janie have been members of First Baptist Church since 1982. He volunteered at Friendship House for 12 years fixing gently used toys for Christmas gifts and assisting in school supply donations.  Pat was ordained a deacon in 2018.  He and Janie were members of the Barnabas Sunday School class.

Pat loved spending time with his family.  He is survived by his wife Janie; a son Brett Atwood; a daughter Carrie Green and husband Kevin; grandchildren Cannon Wise, Grace Green, Brett Atwood, Jr., Taylor Green; a sister Lula Bryant and husband Kalcy; and numerous nieces and nephews,
