Pansy Lee Hundley

Ms. Pansy Lee Jones Hundley was born to Carl and Clara Jones on September 2, 1938 in Collin County, Texas. She is the 3rd youngest girl out of 8 siblings altogether. She is survived by her children, Patrick Hundley and wife Jennifer of Santa Rosa, Ca., Polly Hundley of Austin, Suzanne Schuchardt of McKinney and her grandson, Cheyenne Schuchardt, also of McKinney. Her first-born son, Chris Hundley preceded her in death, as did her parents and siblings: Carl Rudolph (Rudy), Maxine Loy Philips (Mackie), Betty Sue Nelson Shaw, Donald Shelley, Jackie Roland, and Billy Charles Jones.

Of her siblings, her youngest brother James Douglas Jones and wife Nancy survive Pansy in death, along with a number of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. 

Ms. Pansy was a faithful Christian, attending services at the Church of Christ in Allen, Tx. where she attended every chance that was given. 

For 27 years, Ms. Pansy ran the Farmersville Public Library. And we do mean ran. The small town library saw many additions and improvements while Librarian Pansy was there. She also aided in the planning of the annual Old Time Saturday event celebrating Farmersville and the son of Farmersville, Audie Murphy. She was elected a member of the Farmersville Chamber of Commerce for one year as well. 

While serving as town librarian, Ms. Pansy wrote a weekly column in the local newspaper, the Farmersville Times. Although her article was about the latest and greatest books being published, she also shared glimpses of what it was like growing up with her family in Collin County, and being a third generation Texan. Her articles were often filled with humor, relating the stories of her youth. Being the youngest of three sisters (who were the oldest of the siblings), she pulled her weight alongside her family driving tractors, baling hay, and picking cotton. Her youngest siblings were four boys, whom you know the 3 older girls had to keep in line…if possible. 

Pansy also had the great honor of writing an informational book on the history of Farmersville, which was published by Arcadia Publishing in their Images of America, Your Place in History series. The book is still available online through Amazon Books. 

We will greatly miss Ms. Pansy…her sense of humor and rather soft-spoken voice (just kidding, Mom!), her giving spirit, and her ready-to help/support those around her attitude…but we know that she is truly in her element now, surrounded by all of the loved ones who have gone before.
