Pamela Oberya Spain

Pamela Oberya Spain, 66, passed peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 9 with her loved ones by her side after a lengthy and brave battle with multiple myeloma.Born September 19, 1950 to Anna Jo and Gilbert Collier in Plainview, Texas, she spent her childhood in Tulsa, Oklahoma and twirled baton in the Tulsa Central Band, performing on the steps of the White House for President John F. Kennedy. In 1968, at the age of seventeen, Pam married her true love Tom and spent forty-nine years pouring her heart and soul into raising their family of two children and six grandchildren. An incredibly intuitive and empathetic woman, Pam was at her happiest spreading love and joy to others. Whether by serving families as a childcare director for over twenty years, making sure her family had a meal on the table, or hosting an enchanting Christmas (her favorite time of year), she always put others before herself. To most, she was "Nana" - a true symbol of love and selflessness willing to offer an ear, a shoulder to cry on or a seat at her table. She will be sorely missed and joyfully remembered. Pam is survived by her husband of forty-nine years, Thomas Earl Spain, of Farmersville, TX; her daughter Tami Gray, son Thomas Spain II and wife Toni Spain; her grandchildren Susanna, Caitlyn, Caitlin, Haleigh, Thomas III and Jasen; her mother and sister, Anna Jo Collier and Margaret Wooldridge, of Vernon, TX and two brothers John Michael Collier and wife Barbara of Tulsa, OK and Randall Lee Collier and wife Tona of Bixby, OK. She leaves behind many dear friends and relatives. A viewing will be held on Friday, August 11 from 6-8 pm with her service following Saturday, August 12 at 2 pm at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home in McKinney, TX (601 S. Tennessee St). Pam hoped you would hold your memories of her close and share them with each other. That would bring her the most joy of all.
