Our community sadly lost Osagumwenro "Osas" Chester Odemwingie on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at the age of 35 in Dallas, Texas. A resident of Dallas, Texas since 2000, Osas was born on April 2, 1985 to Peter and Esohe Odemwingie in Benin City, Edo State.
Osas is survived by his parents; his son Esosa Peyton Odemwingie; his brothers Raymond and Wesley Odemwingie; his sister Faith Nduka; and his nephew and niece, Azariah and Ariel Nduka. Along with a long line of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
After moving to the United States at the age of 15, Osas attended Richardson High School which is where he graduated from in 2003. Following graduation, Osas used his knack for technology to grow in a career related to workforce management and technology. At his time of death, he was an Intraday Traffic Assistant at Telvista. In 2017, Osas welcomed his only child and son Esosa Odemwingie into the world, who was the most important part of his life.
Osas was a devoted father and hard worker. He took pride in his son and also in his career and all the work that he did. He enjoyed playing card games and watching football. Those who knew him would describe him as a die hard Indianapolis Colts fan. He even named his son Peyton, after his favorite player and Colts former quarterback Peyton Manning. Osas also loved to cook. He was a reserved man that managed to make everyone around him smile. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, co-workers, and all who knew him.
The viewing will be held at Charles W. Smith and Sons on June 19, 2020, from 12pm-2pm at 2925 Fifth Street Sachse, TX 75048. Only a small group of people will be able to view him at a time. Masks are requested but not required. There will be a graveside service held next door at Sachse Cemetery immediately following the viewing.
