Nathan Metsgar Bowers

Nathan Metzgar Bowers, 57, of Farmersville, Texas passed away unexpectedly on April 19, 2021.



The Greeks didn't write obituaries. They only asked one question after a man died. Did he have passion? ~ quote from the movie Serendipity.

Nathan had passion.

Nathan is survived by his wife Marta Spell Bowers. He vowed, in front of God, family and friends, that he would love, honor, cherish, and frustrate her which he did with great passion until the day he died. Nathan never did anything half-way.

He is also survived by four children, Aryn (Clint) Earnhart, Kate (Justin) Walker, Colby Bowers, and Colton Bowers whom he loved deeply, proudly, and will continue to protect from whatever realm or heaven he goes to next. His greatest wish for all of them was to find peace, contentment, purpose, and happiness through loving, living, laughing and forgiving.

He is survived by the wee people: Grandsons Matthew and Evan; Tyson, Dylan, and Mackenzie; and nieces and nephews Kerri, Josh, Jordan, Kristen, Traci, Elizabeth, Victoria, Caleb, Clemmie, Corey, and Lexi. He loved showing the littles how to fish, build a fire, hunt for goblins or buried treasure, how to hike a mountain, watch a sunset, plant a garden, and how to use a tool. He loved attending and cheering in the stands at their sporting events, graduations, weddings, and family reunions.

He also leaves behind his brothers and sisters, Suzie, Jay, Karl and Karol. While he did not have great passion for being a middle child, he loved them and often shared great memories of childhood escapades and was proud to be called brother.

He is survived by his father Patrick F Bowers. Nathan watched and learned from his father how to use tools to make or restore items and inherited some of his artistic talent.

Most importantly, he is survived by the woman he greatly admired the most, his mother, Patricia Cain. She was the first woman to hold him, to love him and to pray for him. She says he was a typical adventurous boy, carrying frogs in his pocket, taking long bike rides, shooting bb guns, had a love for drawing, reading, and participating in motocross. As a little boy, if he saw something he wanted to do, he would do it...even from the age of two years old! Her prayer to him now: "Nathan, though your life here on earth is complete, your eternal journey is just beginning. You are one of the favored ones, now walking (or riding) alongside our precious Lord. Someday we will all be together again...for eternity! You just paved the road first."

He loved to lead the way. And most followed because he was trusted. He was not a perfect man. But he lived with honor. With integrity. With courage. With passion.
