Nancy Ruth (Hutto) Monk, 66, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Monday, January 7, 2013. Nancy, the daughter of Dorlan Lavelle Hutto and Lucille Irene Jones Williams, was born in Denver, CO on April 6, 1946. She married Gary Michael Monk on June 21, 1963.
Nancy was a past President of the National Association of Women in Construction Dallas Chapter and was active in the local, state and national organizations for many years. She also volunteered her time to S.O.U.L. Ministries and Romans 1:16 Evangelism, organizations which help the homeless. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Garland.
Nancy was the first Office Manager at C. D. Henderson Construction for 18 years. She retired from Fannie Mae in December 2007 where she worked as an Administrative Assistant in the Legal Department. She continued her career at Construction Education Foundation (CEF of North Texas).
Nancy was a devoted Christian, wife, mom, Grammy and friend who loved to travel, make memories and help those in need. She was always on the go and touched many lives with her "make things happen" and "help others" attitude.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother-in-law, Frieda Monk; father-in-law, Jack Monk; sister-in-law; Carolyn Whatley; and sister-in-law, Lavonda Monk.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Gary Monk of Garland, TX; daughter, Cyndi Haynes and her husband, Larry of Garland, TX; daughter, Wendy Stewart of Garland, TX; grandchildren, Dylan Haynes, Saylor Stewart, Cayman Stewart and Noah Stewart; sister, Sandra Klein and her husband, Bob of Surprise, AZ; sister, Kayla Woodard and her husband, Arnold of Surprise, AZ; sister, Janice McClellan and her husband, Roy of Richardson, TX; brother, Jim Hutto and his wife, Gail of Anchorage, AK; brother-in-law, Jack Monk of Carrollton, TX; sister-in-law, Freda Bearden and her husband, Charles of Garland, TX and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews , extended family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 2:00pm at Northside Baptist Church, 2510 North Glenbrook Drive in Garland, TX. A reception will follow the memorial service in the church’s fellowship hall.
