Nancy Lynn Langford

August 20, 1934 — September 19, 2024

Richardson

Nancy Lynn Mayo Langford was born on August 20, 1934, in Drayton Plains, Michigan, to parents Lloyd H. and Vera B. Mayo. Nancy went to be with her heavenly Father on September 19, 2024. She is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Robert Langford, her parents Lloyd and Vera Mayo, her brother Robert Mayo, her sister Sharin Pursley, and two half-sisters Louise Mayo Brantley and Carrie Mayo Gibbs.

Nancy is survived by her daughter Christy Korns and son-in-law Jim Korns of Richardson, Texas; grandson Chase Korns of Dallas, Texas; granddaughter Avery Korns and her partner Ken Echevarria of Bunker Hill, West Virginia; brother Lloyd W. Mayo, sister Barbara Mayo; sister-in-law Joan Mayo; and many nieces and nephews.

Nancy grew up in Drayton Plains, Michigan, and graduated from Waterford Township High School in 1952. She began her career in the automotive industry in 1952 at GMC in Pontiac, Michigan, where she met her husband, Bob Langford. They were married in Pontiac on October 23, 1954, and lived in Oxford, Michigan until moving to Richardson, Texas, in 1961.

Nancy enjoyed over 30 years as a warranty administrator in the automotive industry prior to retiring in 1994. She also spent several years as the co-owner of a gift store in Oxford, Michigan, and worked in the accounting department for Collins Radio in Richardson, Texas, for 5 years. In retirement, she enjoyed a part-time job at Michael’s creating beautiful arrangements in their floral department.

Throughout her life, Nancy always liked to stay active. Some of her favorite pastimes were cooking, gardening, reading, sewing and knitting. She spent time serving her community on the Oxford Chamber of Commerce, as President of the Oxford Junior Women’s Club, and was an Exemplar member of the Beta Sigma Phi social and service sorority for 15 years.

Loving God and serving her church was also a focus of Nancy’s life. She became a member of First Christian Church of Garland, Texas, in 1995 where she was an Elder, Deacon, and Chairman of Worship Ministry. Nancy was a dedicated member of the Doves Bible Study covenant group, served on the executive board of Disciples Woman, and was a longtime member of the quilting group.

All who knew Nancy know that her biggest joy in life was her family and friends. Nancy made friends wherever she lived and nurtured those friendships into lifelong relationships. She enjoyed spending time with her friends playing Bridge and Chickenfoot, cooking and sharing meals, and sipping a nice cold diet Coke or a glass of wine. She truly believed in loving her neighbor as herself.

Nancy and Bob welcomed their pride and joy, Christy, in December 1963. After being a loving mom for 30 years, she was even more excited to become a grandmother. She relocated from Spring, Texas, to Garland, Texas, in 1994 to welcome her first grandchild and quickly became known as “Nana”. Nana played an integral role in every part of her grandchildren’s lives and made an imprint on their hearts they will never forget. Our family is forever grateful for her everlasting love, care, and support -- nothing was ever too big or too small for her to handle with love and a smile.

Our family would like to thank Nancy’s family at the Bluebonnet House for their love and care. They will always have a special place in our hearts.
