Nadine Underwood White

May 29, 1944 — October 10, 2017

Nadine Underwood White of Blue Ridge, Texas passed away on October 10, 2017 at the age of 73. She was born on May 29, 1944 to Albert Sydney and Myrtle (Burke) Underwood in Bonham, Texas. Nadine married Ralph White on April 16, 2015 in Blue Ridge, Texas. She worked for twenty-eight years as a supervisor for Action Company in McKinney, two years as an EKG technician at Medical Center of McKinney, and one year at Bartoo Ready Mix.

Mom, Mama, Mama Joe, or Grandma, Granny, or Nadine, regardless of which name you addressed her by, mom always enjoyed life. Over the past few years, her newest hobby was going camping and fishing with Ralph at Grand Lake where they could catch spoonbill catfish, or jug line fishing at Cooper Lake, but any type of fishing was okay with her. Mom’s other hobbies were shooting guns, playing dominoes, and dancing the jitterbug with Ralph.

Cooking was her specialty – pies, cakes, home cooked breakfast, or Thanksgiving meals with her homemade dressing - we all knew there would be a crowd, because everyone was welcome. Mom had a passion for family get-togethers.

Being raised on a family farm north of Bonham with five brothers and four sisters, mom had many childhood memories that she always spoke about with great joy. Work found mom early in life when her father passed away when she was twelve years old. Realizing the load left to her mom, she chose to help support the family by working in the fields picking cotton with her mom.

She never turned her head away from work or when it came to helping others. Mom was a go-getter. It has been said by many people that she would outwork most men. Helping people was just mom being mom. She had to give, always looking toward the needy instead of looking the other direction. Her heart wouldn’t allow her not to help. Never meeting a stranger, I think it was her instinct to find people in need. She loved everyone, never found fault with people, and accepted us with unconditional love. Mom’s beautiful blue eyes, constant smile, and arms waiting to hug us are going to be missed.

Nadine is survived by her loving husband, Ralph White of Blue Ridge, Texas; children, Billy Roberts and wife, Anna of Howe, Texas, Greg Roberts and wife, Sharon of Whitesboro, Texas, Tracy Bartoo and husband, Cary of Blue Ridge, Texas, Jimmy Adams, also of Blue Ridge, Jackie Murr of Denison, Texas, Suzette Neary and husband, Scott of Pensacola, Florida, Donna Eslick of Claremore, Oklahoma, Carolyn Newman, also of Claremore, Sarah White of Homminy, Oklahoma, Ralph White, Jr. and wife, Christal of Langley, Oklahoma, Billy White and wife, Cassie of Sherman, Texas; sisters, Hazel Gooch of Oak Cliff, Texas, Maxine West and husband, Bill of Bonham, Texas, Lyna Pinkston and husband, Arthur of Westminster, Texas, Faye Hughes and husband, Danny of Sadler, Texas, and Marie Underwood of Bells, Texas; grandchildren, Ashley, Heather, Joshua, Chelsey, Brad, Billy, Cayne, Nick, Caylen, Sofia, Blake, Brittany, Terri, Robert, Martha, John, Donald, Desiree, Chelsey, Marilyn, Gabby, Shaun, Shay, Sheena, Kandis, J.C., Jimmy, Jackie, Allesandro, Shannon, Dusty, and Alaina; 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous other loving family and friends.
