Mireya Serna “Yeya” Rhodes returned to her heavenly home on December 24, 2015. She slipped peacefully into God’s loving embrace while asleep at her home in Anna, Texas. Mireya’s devotion to her family and her firm belief in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ comforted her in her final days on earth, and ultimately gave her peace.Mireya was born to Arturo Serna and Dora Treviño Serna on April 14, 1935, in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. She graduated from Holding Institute in Laredo, Texas, and attended Richland Junior College in Richardson, Texas. A long time government employee, Mireya retired as a Management Analyst in the Criminal Investigation Division of the IRS in 1996.Mireya married Jerry Stephen “Steve” Rhodes on July 12, 1959 in Monterrey. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, and is survived by son Steven Rhodes II, son Arthur Glenn and daughter-in-law Sarah Kay Rhodes, daughter Vanesa Rhodes, brother Arturo Serna, sister Celinda Palmer, grand-daughter Amber Gayle and her husband Jared Roberts, grand-son Andrew Garrett Rhodes and his wife Meagan, and many nieces and nephews.Mireya will be buried at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney, Texas. Funeral services will take place at the cemetery chapel on Tuesday, December 29th at 12 noon. Floral arrangements may be sent to Charles Smith and Sons in McKinney. Reverend Tom Houston from the Wylie Bible Church will officiate.
