Miguel Galvan, loving husband, father, and grandfather to many passed away at the age of eighty-nine years-old on Saturday March 30, 2019 in Dallas, Texas.
Mike was born on March 29, 1930 in Harlingen, Texas. He graduated from Briggs-Coleman School. Galvan enlisted in the US Army in December of 1948 he was a member of the Headquarters Battery 82nd AWBN Second Division. In December of 1950, Miguel's family was notified by telegram that he was MIA.
In March of 1951, came another telegram confirming the Harlingen boy was a Prisoner of War of the Communist forces (KOREA). After five years of service, in 1953 Miguel was honorable discharged with four medals.
Upon Mike's return he married Frances Cervantes from Santa Rosa, Texas.
Mr. and Mrs. Galvan combined families totaling eight children. Preceding in his death by his spouse of fifty-four years is Frances C. Galvan, Daughter Patricia Ortiz, and Son Tony Cortez.
Survived by his six children, Janie Galvan, Cecilia Ballew, Jesse Cortez, Larry Aguilar, Joe Jr. Aguilar and Guadalupe Aguilar.
Mr. Galvan had seven sisters and two brothers. Survived by his sister is Frances Torres.
Mike and Frances moved to Garland, Texas in the late sixties. He then began to work for Tolbert Electric Motor Company Inc. Mike manufactured motors and generators and later became Co-Ownership with his best friend Layman Tolbert.
Mike loved spending time with family and friends as well as laughing, joking around, watching John Wayne movies, giving advice, traveling, hunting, fishing, camping, gambling, dancing, drinking beer, collecting old Chevy cars, watching sports, but most importantly, he loved helping people.
Mike was a life time member of the VFW, NRA and American Legion.
Visitation will be held at Charles W. Smith and son in Sachse, Texas
Ceremonial Service will be held at DFW National Cemetery.
