Michael Jeffrey

Michael Jeffrey passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at the age of 71. Born Michael Osye Lewis Jeffrey, he is remembered as a Dad, a Brother, a Papa and a friend.

Michael was born on April 8, 1951 in Dallas, TX to Larry Blaine Jeffrey and Bennie Lee Miller. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and sister Carol, and is survived by his sister Alana, brother Jack, six children (Nick, Mac, Shane, Alison, Lauren and Zach), and twelve grandchildren (Kyler, Lexie, Jude, Eleanor, Guinevere, Castor, Arya, Scarlett, August, Emmitt, Wyatt and Violet).

Michael grew up in Oak Cliff and attended Sunset High School. During his early years, he developed a keen interest in music, which turned into a lifelong passion and pursuit. As a southpaw guitarist, his early playing experiences included learning to play his father's right-handed guitar upside-down. This was a skill he never lost, and he would regularly surprise and delight people by displaying this unique talent. As his love for music grew, so did his ability. Through diligent effort and persistence, he found work supporting many high-profile artists, and became an inspiration to his peers and especially his family. As a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist, he wrote and recorded dozens of songs over the years, and in so doing, created a soundtrack for the lives of those around him. With a career spanning decades and both gold and platinum records listed among his achievements, he never failed to inspire others to follow their muse and do their best.

He was a man that never met a stranger and could carry a conversation with anyone on most any subject. Warm and welcoming, he would entertain for hours, leaving guests wondering where the time went. Quick-witted and resourceful, he could be counted on when people needed him. He would reassure in times of trouble, and bring people together in moments that healed and inspired. Caring, genuine and disarmingly humble in his later years, he demonstrated a commitment to the well-being of his family and friends, helping them find happiness in the little things and sharing his knowledge and advice.

He wanted to be remembered as a true friend, a good son, and most of all a loving father. He will be sorely missed by those who knew him and he is surely wanting us to know that "everything's fine!"

Graveside services to be on Friday, September 16th at 2:00pm at Nevada Cemetery, 301 FM 6 Nevada Texas 75173 and separate memorial on Sunday, September 18th beginning at 1:00pm at Elks Lodge, #2404 4201 Gus Thomasson Rd, Mesquite Texas 75150
