Michael Allen Forehand

July 29, 1965 — February 15, 2020

Michael (Mike) Allen Forehand was born July 29, 1965 in Dallas, TX to Richard (Dick) Allan and Barbara Rae (Vander Werff) Forehand. Their first son, he was one of six children. He grew up in Garland, TX, and often spent summers in either South Dakota or California visiting family. He graduated from Garland High School in 1984. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Trained at Lackland AFB and Chanute AFB, his permanent assignment was to Travis AFB. His primary skill was as an airframe technician. The skills he learned in the Air Force carried him throughout his life with the most recent being working on the aircraft of the USAF Big Safari program at L3Harris in Greenville, TX. He excelled with L3 as evidenced with his many awards. While at L3 he gained, through his own initiative, the coveted FAA-issued A&P license.
Mike moved to Royse City where he built his dream house with his new wife Kathy (Kat). He loved God, country, family and friends. He never met a stranger and would literally give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. His sons and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. He loved to have people over to his house for a cookout. He would often hangout with his friends over a beer. He loved traveling and took his sons on many amazing trips throughout their childhood.
One of Mike's favorite recreational activities was hunting. During hunting season, you would be sure to find him at the deer lease with his brother Mark and Scott Smith plus many other good hunting buddies and family. Mike was an avid fan of all Dallas sports teams. But his favorite was the Dallas Cowboys. He prided himself on being the loudest and rowdiest fan a sports team could have. He never turned down a chance to tailgate. It truly was an experience to be with him at any sports event. He loved his "Moose" horns hat and wore it proudly while waiving his Dallas Cowboys flag and singing the "Dallas Cowboy song". He even taught his dog, Malley to sing the song with him. He will always be remembered for his competitive nature, even if it was just to play a family game of Spoons or Skitch.
Mike was greeted in heaven by Grandmothers Dorothy and Inez, Grandfathers Ray and Eugene, Father Dick, Aunt Sandy, Aunt Linda and Uncle Gene. His surviving immediate family are his wife Kat, mother Barbara, sons Andrew and Chase, daughter Brandi, granddaughters Alyssa, Carah and Yana, sisters Vicky, Julie and Michelle, and brothers Will and Mark. In addition to his five siblings he is survived by several in-laws as well; Misty Griffin, Dan Gipson, and Katrina Pittman. He is also survived by Aunt Jan/Uncle John, Uncle Dave/Aunt Carol and Uncle Wayne. He has many surviving nieces and nephews, including Tiffany, Melanie, Jeremy, Matthew, Dylan, Dayton, Dawson Whitney, Justin, and even more great nephews and nieces: Baylee, Aiden, Isaiah, Lee and Korbin. He also has several surviving first cousins: Jennifer, Jeanine, Jaimie, Mallory, and Marshall.
