Michael was born in Knoxville, Tennessee. However, his parents were obviously brilliant since they brought him to Texas as soon as they could get here. As a family, the Dyers made a home in Garland, Texas. Michael was raised and educated in Garland where he attended Daughtery and Williams Elementary Schools, Sam Houston Junior High and was a member of the first graduating class of South Garland High School. While at South Garland, Michael’s wonderful singing voice earned him a spot in The Showboaters (South Garland High’s performance choir).
During high school, he worked at Tucker’s Exxon Station where he could often be found elbow deep in some piece of machinery. After graduating high school in 1968, Michael spent two years at United Electronics Institute and received a technical degree in electronics. In 1971, he found a place at Williams and Davis Boilers. There he found not only a job, but a "work home and family".
In 1972, he married Dianne Nash and together they had two beautiful daughters, Michelle and Glenda. With the wonderful example of his parents before him, he combined love, affection, discipline, and education to raise his family. In 1989, Michael and Dianne divorced and continued to work together to raise their children.
In 1993, Michael married Barbara Smith and brought her two children into the family. Wally and Robbie became brother and sister to Michelle and Glenda, and the Dyer clan opened their hearts to love the new family members. Michelle and Glenda gained another brother and sister when Wally married Jeanine and Robbie married Landon.
In 1995, the Dyer clan continued its expansion as the first of the six grandchildren arrived. By 2004, the expansion was complete and Michael adored each of his grandsons. Brandon, Jonathan, Michael, Benjamin, David and Andrew all brought new life and energy to the family.
In 2006, Michael left W&D after Eddie Davis sold the company. From there, he worked at Holman Boiler, DMI and found a work home and family once again when he came to work for Tigert.
In 2006, Michael lost his mother Melba unexpectedly and the entire family mourned losing such an openly loving matriarch.
Barbara passed away in 2008. After grieving, Michael once again opened his heart to love and married Terry Clark in May of 2010. Michael and Terry lived together in the home where Michael was raised as they cared for Michael’s father Glenn until his passing in 2011.
Michael unexpectedly passed away August 1, 2012, leaving behind many friends and family who will miss him dearly.
