Melvin "Roy" Young Jr., age 76, of Dallas, Texas, passed away March 21, 2014 in Dallas, Texas. He was born July 4, 1937 in Uvalde, Texas to Melvin and Edith Young.
Roy grew up in Uvalde and was a 1955 graduate of Uvalde High School where he was the Quarter Back for the football team and was an All-Star all-around athlete. He obtained an Associates Degree from Southwestern Texas State Junior College and then attended the University of Texas at Austin where he met and married his wife, Sandra Elaine Sachse in 1958.
They moved to Dallas in 1959, where Roy started his career as an Insurance Agent for Washington National Insurance Company. He then went to work for Farmers Insurance and retired after thirty-five years of service.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mitzi Young; and his parents.
Roy is survived by is wife of fifty-six years, Sandra Young; two daughters, Laurie Vulgamore and her husband, Larry and Patti Donohue; one son, Alan "Buddy" Young; grandson, Justin Young; brother, Jay Young and his wife, Cindy; sister, Linda Roosa and her husband, Eddie; and numerous other family members.
