Melanie A. Dorin (Acuna)

Melanie A. Dorin (Acuna) passed away peacefully at home in her husband's arms on February 15, 2025. She was born in Oakland, California on January 20, 1952, to parents Ray and Rena Acuna.

Melanie married the absolute love of her life, Ben Dorin, in September of 1977 in Reno, Nevada after two years of dating. She was thrilled to be home to celebrate a 5oth Valentine's with Ben! Despite a year-long battle with cancer, her family remained Melanie's number one focus.

Melanie worked in Telecom for many years before finally retiring from Verizon. Not ready to fully dive into retired life, she became an area manager for Cherry Hill Programs and got to work alongside her husband. They traveled to 9 area shopping malls taking pictures of children with the Easter Bunny and Santa Clause. They loved helping to bring joy to families during the holidays!

In her down time, Melanie loved to relax at home with Ben and watch their favorite television shows about hunting perfect dream homes and renovating and breathing new life into older charming homes. Despite being born in Oakland, Melanie was a San Franciso 49r's fan, and Ben was the Oakland Raiders fan - they always enjoyed watching the game when the 2 teams faced off!

Left to cherish Melanie's memory are her husband, Ben; daughter Beth Velez (Brandon); son Michael Dorin; grandchildren Fiona, Sean, Thomas, Dakota, Heidi, Henrick; and brother Mark Acuna. Melanie was preceded in death by her parents and an infant grandson.
