Matthew Wise

October 4, 1966 — December 6, 2018

Matt Wise passed from this life in the arms of his loving wife on December 6, 2018 after a courageous and long battle with Kidney Cancer. Matt never once gave up the fight and approached each and every day with a positive attitude and a sweet smile on his face.
He was born on October 4, 1966 to Abner Bob Wise and Meta Campbell in Hollywood, Florida. He was the third oldest of the four Wise brothers. Matt grew up in Florida where he attended Coconut Creek High School and it was in Florida where his lifetime love and passion for aviation began. Matt started flying lessons in 1979 at the young age of only 13. He obtained his pilots license in 1985 at just 18 years old. He joined the American Eagle/Envoy/American Airlines family in 1989. Having worked almost 30 years for them, Matt was an accomplished pilot, well respected pilot instructor, incredibly dedicated employee and a friend to so many. In his memory, Envoy Airlines is dedicating a new Embraer 175 airplane to Matt. This new plane is scheduled to be delivered from the factory in Brazil to Envoy in October, 2019 and has been registered with the tail number N289MW. Matt's love for flying will be eternal.
Though Matt loved to fly and travel, he also loved 80's music, movies, tv-shows, computers, classic cars, Greyhound busses, trains, boats and anything else that moved. He was a man of many hobbies and loved to tinker on the computer or with his guitars. But there was nowhere he would rather be than with his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife Mary, and was a sweet and hopeless romantic. His daughters, Kristin and Kira, were the reason for the sparkle in his beautiful blue eyes. He loved them to the moon and back. Raising his two girls will always be his greatest accomplishment in his short life. Matt was a very loving and caring man who always put his family first.
Matt was a natural charmer, born with movie-star good looks. He had a way of lighting up a room and people just naturally gravitated towards him. But it was his loving spirit, generosity, kindness, self-less giving and sense of humor that people will remember. He had a way of bringing people together in any situation and he will be dearly missed.
Matt is survived by his wife and sweetheart, Mary; his mother Meta Campbell and step-dad Byron Campbell; daughters Kristin Wise and Kira Wise; step-children, Ryan Rogers, Shelby Collard, Sage Rogers and Nate Collard. He is also survived by his brothers, Marc Wise, Meier Wise and Miles Wise, their wives Lisa, Debbie and Kelly; step-brother Evan Campbell and wife Kim; step-sister Aimee Wood and husband Jim. Last but not least, Matt had 3 precious grandkids who lovingly knew him as "Pops". Matt was preceded in death by his father Bob Wise.
In keeping with his wishes, Matt will be cremated. A celebration of Matt's life will be held at 2pm on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at the Charles w. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 2925 5th St, Sachse TX 75048. A reception will immediately follow at Matt and Mary's home, 7517 Keith Lane, Sachse, TX 75048. Matt wanted to have all of his friends gather at his home after the Celebration of Life service to share wonderful memories. Everyone is welcome to attend both the Celebration of Life service and the Reception.
