Matilda Emma LeCard

January 2, 1921 — April 24, 2017

Matilda "Millie" Emma LeCard, age 96, passed away on April 24, 2017. She was born on January 2, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY to Fred and Ethel (Zinnel) Gropp. Millie married Louis LeCard May 21, 1943 in New York, and they were married for 53 years before he preceded her in death in 1996. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Garland for 10 years. Millie lived in New York for most of her life before moving to Texas in 2003 to be close to her family. She enjoyed sailing, crocheting, reading, and sewing.


She is survived by her two daughters, Louise Jeffrey and husband, Bruce, and Jan Hardin and husband, James; one son, Marc LeCard and wife, Jane Brundage; five grandchildren, Anne Morgann LeCard, Ian Jeffrey, Eric Jeffrey, Alex Hardin, and Chris Hardin; one sister, Gloria Hanson; and one brother, Walter Gropp and wife, Sheila. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis; and one brother, Bill Gropp.


A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Peace Lutheran Church, 2929 South 1st St., Garland, TX 75041 with Rev. Jack Schneider officiating. Millie will be cremated and buried with her husband in New York at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Alzheimer's Association in honor of Millie.
