Mathew Mathew Achen, our beloved Pappa, was born to Mrs. Saramma Mathew and Mr. Mathew Varghese on November 17, 1934 in Mallappally, India. Pappa did his primary education at I.K.M. School Mallappally. During his 4th grade Sunday school class, Pappa accepted Jesus Christ as his LORD and SAVIOR. Same year, Pappa received his KUPPAYAM (choir robe) from Bishop C. K. Jacob and inducted into the first choir in Mallappally. Pappa was part of the choir until age 24. Everybody says that when Pappa sing at the church, it can be heard from the Mallappally Bridge. After completing studies at C M S High School, at age 24, Pappa entered Nicholson Bible Institute Tholachery. After graduating, pappa became an evangelist on May 1, 1960.

Pappa married Ammmachi (Saramma Mathew) on April 27, 1961. Pappa served as an evangelist in churches includes: Karinthiri, Kallada, Mundiyapalli, Ezhumattoor, Mallasserry, Elenthoor, Mundrothuruthu. While serving Charrumood, Pappa received ordination from Bishop M. C. Mani (1983) and became ordained minister. Pappa served as Achen in Kootikal and Kattapana. In 1987, Pappa came to United States and resided here ever since. Pappa had the privilege to serve churches in Dallas and Houston. In Dallas pappa served Christ C.S.I. Dallas and C. S. I. Congregation of Dallas. In Houston he served Immanuel C. S. I. Church and St. Thomas C. S. I. Church.

Pappa was a great servant of Jesus. From young age onwards, he was determined to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ as many people as pappa could reach. Pappa was a very well known convention speaker among many denominations. He harvested many for the Kingdom of God and did thousands of adult baptisms. To the world pappa was a great Achen, but for us Pappa was a great father and true friend. Pappa received his final Kurbana from Rev. Ninan Jacob on last Sunday. From the day he gave his life to Jesus and to the last breath, Pappa was confident in Pappa’s SALVATION and that HIS REDEEMER LIVES.
