Mary Malyndia Thompson Sandifeer, but everyone knew her as Mary Lynn, was born in McKinney, Texas on July 15, 1945, and passed away from Lewy Body Dementia (LBD) on September 15, 2023, at the age of seventy-eight (78). Preceded in death by her Mother Opal Horn Thompson, Father Harley Thompson, Brother Robert Thompson, Brother John Thompson. Mary is survived by her husband, Gerry Don Sandifeer, whom she married on August 6, 1966, and their two sons, Kevin Lee Sandifeer and Scott Alan Sandifeer and wife Jane Sandifeer. Mary had two granddaughters, Abby Sandifeer Foster and husband Brandon Foster and Lacey Sandifeer, two step-grandchildren Brad Bemis his wife Kayla Bemis and Brandon Bemis and his wife Rachel Bemis, and three great-grandchildren Kyleigh Bemis, Jaxon Bemis, and Jeremiah Bemis. She attended elementary school in Melissa, Texas and graduated from high school in McKinney, Texas in 1963. After graduating, she worked for State Farm Insurance as a file clerk and later moved to Richardson, Texas to work for TI. She followed her husband to Virginia when he joined the Army and returned to Texas while Gerry was stationed in Korea. Mary worked for Collins Radio until she gave birth to her son Kevin and then became a homemaker. She also worked part-time for Taylor Publishing and later for Wylie School in the cafeteria. Her last job at Community ISD was as the middle School Librarian and it was her favorite. Mary retired in 1997 to babysit her first granddaughter Abby then later Lacey after she was born. These girls were her greatest pride and joy. Mary enjoyed traveling. She liked playing games, taking pictures of wildlife, and shopping for her granddaughters. She also loved riding horses after Scott taught her to ride. Her favorite color was blue. She loved Elvis, Butterflies and Hummingbirds. She could handle her own with any type of gun. Mary also loved having potluck with friends. Mary was described as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother (nana), and great-grandmother who loved her family and spending time with them. Mary was a long-time member of Nevada Baptist Church. She was always willing to help with anything at the church from vacation bible school to helping with a wedding. Mary was also very involved with helping raise money for the Nevada Volunteer Fire Department. She was the number one fan when her boys’ played sports. Mary truly loved traveling in the RV. She made many dear friends while RVing.
