Mary Lou May

June 12, 1937 — December 9, 2017

Mary Lou May, age 80 of Denton, Texas, passed away on December 9, 2017 after a battle with lung cancer. She was born on June 12, 1937 in Emporia, Kansas to Homer William and Margaret Catherine (Williams) Cole. Mary was formerly of McKinney, Texas, residing there from 1971-1982. Mary was a resident of Denton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for over twenty years, and she was a member of their Hand Bell Choir. She loved animals, and she had her sweet dog, YumYum to keep her company for many years. Mary enjoyed playing dominoes with Loren and Kenneth, and she especially looked forward to Loren’s visits when he would bring her two pieces of chicken with rolls and honey from Grandy’s. Mary had a beautiful soul, and her family and friends, although they will miss her dearly, will always feel her presence in their hearts.

Mary is survived by her son, Loren May of Richardson, Texas; daughter, Marsha Nievar of Oak Cliff, Texas; sister, Sharen Westfall of Tully, New York; brother, Ted Cole of Holt, Missouri; caring ex-husband, David May and wife, Martha of Plano, Texas; and son-in-law, Larry Nievar of Tyler, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents and her older brother, Seward R. Cole.

The memorial service that was previously announced is being rescheduled due to a family illness. New service times will be posted when they are scheduled. Arrangements entrusted to Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, McKinney.
