Mary Dell Lorenz

July 24, 1957 — June 20, 2015

Mary Dell Lorenz, 57, of Richardson, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 20, 2015. She was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas on July 24, 1957, the only daughter of four children born to Harrell and Roberta Ford. Her childhood years through high school were spent in Ponca City, Oklahoma, where her family was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She graduated from Ponca City Senior High School in 1975.

She attended undergraduate studies at Oklahoma State University (OSU), a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority, graduating in 1979. She then received her Masters in Nutrition from Texas Women's University in Houston, Texas becoming a Registered Dietician.

Mary Dell married Philip Lorenz, her high school sweetheart, on August 8, 1981. They resided in College Station, Texas for five years, later moving to Richardson, Texas where they raised their family.

First and foremost, she lived a principled and intentional life as a follower of Jesus Christ, having committed her life to Him through the "Campus Crusade for Christ" Ministry while at OSU. Through consistent personal devotion time, Bible reading, and Church participation, she matured into a godly woman exemplifying Christ to all she came in contact with in all walks of life. None were exempt.

None were more affected by this deep commitment than her nine children. She tenaciously educated them as a homeschooling mother, pouring her life and values into them minute by minute, day by day, week by week, month by month, year by year. Mary Dell also utilized her God given talents and abilities in many ways outside the home. She consistently volunteered with Children's Ministry Programs at North Highlands Bible Church in Dallas, Texas and then at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas. She founded a "Youth & Government" chapter at the local YMCA in Richardson. And she was a member with the Golden Corridor Republican Women of Collin County. On top of managing and participating in all of the above, she waged a seven year battle against ovarian cancer, maintaining a positive and unrelenting attitude while demonstrating a rock solid faith and belief in Jesus Christ.

Mary Dell is survived by her brothers, John, Julian, and Robert Ford, her husband, Philip, her children, Jared, his wife Leah, Chad, his wife Rachel, Reid, Rachel, her husband Rob, Jamie, Grace, Susanna, David, and Ford, and seven grandchildren, Katelyn, Kayleigh, Tess, Parker, Jackson, Selah, and Lauren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 2925 5th Street, Sachse, Texas 75048.

Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Prestonwood Baptist Church (Faith Chapel), 6801 W. Park Blvd., Plano, Texas 75093. Interment will follow in Lake View Cemetery, Lavon, Texas.
