Mary Lynn Lewis, 83, of Fairview, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2021.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas (Tom) R. Lewis, and three sons, Tom (Jana), Jeff (Ashlyn) and Peter along with two grandchildren, Abby and Kyle. Mary is also survived by her sister Jean Anderson (Wes), brother Paul Murphy (Lexie), sister-in-law Sue Murphy and numerous nieces and nephews and preceded in death by brother Lee Murphy.
Born in Muskegon, MI on May 19, 1938 to Joseph and Lorraine Murphy, Mary attended Muskegon High School and the University of Michigan, pledging Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and graduating with a B.S. in Education.
She and Tom married in 1961 in Muskegon. After moves to Wisconsin and Chicago, they moved to Arlington, TX in 1974. Mary taught elementary children for a total of 20 years in Michigan and Texas.
A long-time golfer and member of Rolling Hills Country Club in Arlington, she played and won numerous member/guest tournaments, earning the nickname, 'down the middle Mary'.
Shortly after retiring, she and Tom moved to the Heritage Ranch Golf & Country Club community in Fairview where she enjoyed playing golf, bridge, and mahjong among other activities.
She leaves an indelible mark as a joyful spouse, wonderful mother and caring friend who spread humor and kindness in every circumstance.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at First United Methodist Church McKinney on Monday, December 13, 2021 at 2:00 pm with a reception to follow.
