Mary A. Koch

August 16, 1938 — May 20, 2016

Mary A. Koch was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 16, 1938. She lived on Glenmore Avenue until she married Fred Koch July 17, 1955. They moved to Hempstead Long Island and had two sons Ronald and Brian. Mary and Fred decided to move to Upstate New York and build their dream house in Somers, New York.Mary started her own business with luncheon trucks, going from one construction site to another. Fred opened his own ice cream parlor while Mary did the cooking for both her trucks and the ice cream parlor. Fred was also a volunteer fireman in the town. Mary was in charge of the school cafeterias in Katona, New York and she was the director of food management for a number of years. After they both retired, Fred decided he wanted to move to Texas where the weather was warm. They also had a granddaughter Shannon, who they adored. Mary did volunteering at Baylor Hospital in Garland, Texas and Presbyterian Hospital in Rockwall, Texas. She was one that could never sit still and she liked to knit baby hats and blankets for the newborn babies at the hospitals.I lost my best friend and sister this past Friday and she will be missed. My sister and I never had a fight or argument and we agreed to disagree and discussed it and it was settled. Mary was a wonderful sister and person, and she would help anyone who needed it. I am going to miss my phone calls everyday to her.
