Mary Oleta House

Mary Oleta House passed from this life and into the arms of her Lord on October 12, 2017 at the age of 100 years. She died peacefully at her home in Farmersville, TX. Oleta was born in Durant, Oklahoma to Bryant and Neal Wylie on Sept 8, 1917. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter House and her son, Tom House. She is survived by her daughter in law, Jill House, her grandson Chris House, his wife, Carissa, her granddaughter, Stasie Young, and her husband, Nick. She has multiple great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Oleta married Walter House in 1942 and they enjoyed a loving marriage until his death in 2004. She had strong faith in God throughout her life. She lived her life as a devout Southern Baptist. In 1950, they adopted their only child, Tom, which made their family complete. They raised their small family in Dallas for many years until retiring back to Walter’s home town of Farmersville, TX in 1988. Oleta was a matriarch for her family. Not only did she care for the two favorite men in her life, Walter and Tom, she also helped care for her Aunt Mary, her in-laws, and her mother in their later years. She was a kind and giving woman to anyone who crossed her path. A lover of animals and an accomplished, painter, seamstress and cook. One of Oleta’s goals was to live to 100 years. She accomplished that goal with a good attitude and sharp mind. Her family and friends will cherish the memories she shared with us and her soul will remain in our hearts forever.
