Mary S Floyd

Mary Sue Floyd, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on May 31, 1945, in Troy, Alabama, Mary's life was guided by her unwavering faith, which also shaped her approach to motherhood.

After losing her mother in 1951, Mary, the eldest of eight children, took on a maternal role for many of her siblings. She loved each sibling dearly, and each holds a special place in her heart, but for vastly different reasons. As a mother of two and grandmother of three, she instilled her strong values and beliefs in her family. Mary led by example, working as the Director of Employee Relations at The Ohio State University and volunteering at the Catholic church for 30 years. She especially enjoyed making rosaries for the parish and community. Mary's home was a place of love and support for her children and countless others who sought her guidance and comfort.

Mary is survived by her two children, Robin Elizabeth Beighley and David Jay Floyd; her two granddaughters, Alexa Ann Salva and Tessa Olivia Beighley; and one great-granddaughter, Ava Salva.

Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Margarita Marie O’brien, father, Edward Scott King, step-mother Edith King, and grandson, Sebastian Ezequiel Salva.

A celebration of Mary's life will be held on April 15 at 1 p.m. at Charles W Smith & Sons Funeral Home in Sachse, TX. In honor of Mary's love for the color blue, attendees are asked to wear blue.
