Marvin Frank Dobecka

76-year-old Marvin Dobecka of McKinney, TX passed away at his home January 7, 2019.

He is preceded in death by his father Frank Dobecka, his brother Arnold Dobecka, and mother Lillian Dobecka.

Marvin was born in Mesquite, TX April 30, 1942. He was raised in Grapevine, TX where he attended Grapevine schools. He played the saxophone in the school band in Grapevine where he graduated in 1960.

He worked as a carpenter for his father before being drafted by the Army in 1963 where he served as an MP for three years. Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, he enrolled in the Texas Department of Public Safety Training Academy. He graduated from the academy and was assigned to the Dallas Region as State Trooper and Motor Vehicle Inspections. He retired from the State of Texas DPS as Special State Trooper at the age of 62.

Marvin liked playing solitaire on the computer, collecting coins and smoking his pipe.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Alice Todd Dobecka, his son David Dobecka and wife Regina Dobecka of McKinney, his son Matthew Dobecka and wife Rachel Dobecka and granddaughters Allyson Dobecka and Elizabeth Dobecka of Howe, TX. His sister Marcella Dobecka Vance of Dallas, TX, nieces Lavonna Vasquez and husband Mario Vasquez of Ennis, TX, Cynthia Hablinski and husband Robert Hablinski of Houston, TX, Toni Akers and husband Michael Akers of Temple, TX and Nephew Richard Dobecka and wife Liz Dobecka of Garland, TX.
