Martha Ann Bomar

September 15, 1940 — December 28, 2021

Martha Ann Mason Bomar passed away December 28, 2021 in Dallas, Texas. She was 81 years old.

Martha was born in 1940 in Dallas, to parents Mable Mason (Barry) and Samuel Mason, along with her older brother James Mason. After her mother's early passing in 1952, Martha recounted many precious memories of the love and support found in her Grandma Mason. She also spent a year at the ranch the Barry cousins lived and worked on, and she loved sharing wild tales of mountain lion footprints and funny pranks.

During her teenage years, Martha gained a step-mother in Jewell Mason (Risinger Baker). Despite each of their strong wills, Martha and Jewell grew to love one another dearly throughout the many years that followed.

In her time at Seagoville High School, Martha was a cheerleader and co-editor of a fundraiser booklet called the Dixie Dragon. Following graduation, Martha attended business school and lived at the YWCA. She married James E. Pressly, and together they had two children, Annette and James Jr.

Martha and Jim moved to Midland, Texas in the late 1960's, where she was a seamstress and bookkeeper by trade, and a Bible teacher by calling. She spent many years teaching Sunday School for adults and bringing Bible stories to life for children.

In later years, Martha met her second husband and greatest friend, Don Bomar, and the two married in 1986. They were active in their local church and Christian community.

Following her late husband's passing, Martha moved to Frisco, Texas to be near her daughter and son. She spent her last years close with her family, enjoying new friendships alongside old, and continuing to serve the Lord.

Her family will long remember her infectious laugh and the mischievous twinkle in her eye, not to mention her love of cats, Mexican food, and shopping.

Martha's strength and joy in serving the Lord is the kind that permeates generations. It is stitched into each garment her hands sewed, heard in each note her fingers played on the piano, and scrawled in notebooks filled with Bible verses. Her life was not always an easy one, but it was always one that sang His praises.

Martha was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Mason, mother Mable Mason (Barry), step-mother Jewell Mason (Risinger Baker), husband Don Bomar, step-son Dobie Bomar, and step-brother Charles Baker. Martha is survived by her brother James Mason and wife Betty; daughter Annette Wilie (Pressly) and husband Brett; son James Pressly Jr. and wife Carla; step-daughter Cindy Hellinger and husband Tom; grandchildren Hannah Wolt (Wilie) and husband Costin; Carl James and Harrison Pressly; Aleisha, Sarah, and Caleb Hellinger; Deven and Dillon Bomar; great-granddaughter Olivia Wolt; as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.
