Marlene Briscoe

Life Legacy
Marlene Briscoe, formerly of Ponca City and Bethany, Oklahoma, passed away on December 13, 2013 in Wylie, Texas, at the age of 89. She was born Ponce Marlene Isaacs on June 14, 1924 to Charles Edward and Wanda Adeline Isaacs in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She was married to Paul Vernon Briscoe on December 19, 1943 in Ponca City, Oklahoma.
Marlene was employed as a secretary for the Oklahoma Conference Offices of the United Methodist Church before she retired. She was a member of The Church of the Nazarene, and she served on the NW Oklahoma District Missionary Council for the Church of the Nazarene for many years. She was an accomplished violinist and at one time played with the Oklahoma City Symphony. She also played in the church orchestra at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene in Bethany, Oklahoma, for many years and continued to play the violin until she was 82. She loved her music, writing stories about her family, and most especially, spending time with her family. She was a giving, caring, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Marlene is survived by her husband of 69 years, Paul Vernon Briscoe; daughter, Ponce Peterson and husband Leroy; daughter, Judi Coker and husband Don; son, Phillip Briscoe and wife Connie; son, Steve Briscoe and wife Sherry; son, Mark Briscoe; brother, Walter Isaacs; 9 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 1 great, great grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Aubrey Isaacs, Raleigh Isaacs and Herbert Isaacs; and 5 sisters, Mary Isaacs, Thelma Harper, Genevieve Mullins, Bernice Mullins and Mildred Farhner.
Marlene's Celebration of Life Service is 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 20, 2013, at Charles W Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 2925 Fifth St, Sachse, Texas 75048, with her grandson, Reverend Kevin Peterson, officiating. Her family requests Memorial Donations be made to Nazarene Compassionate Ministries, 17001 Prairie Star Parkway, Lenexa, Kansas 66220 or contribute via ncm.org.
