Mark McGee

January 27, 1959 — June 3, 2019

Mark Anthony McGee died in his home on June 3, 2019 in Garland, TX, after 12+ years of disability and illness due to a work-related accident. He was 60.

Mr. McGee was born on January 27, 1959 in Odessa, Texas to his parents, Clyde "Fibber" Earnest McGee and Helen Louise Ramsey McGee. He attended Odessa High School, although to his friends and family … they assumed he graduated from the "Texas Famous" Odessa Permian Mojos'. Mark married Diana Ator McGee on June 4, 1981. Mark never knew Diana's first name, he always called her "Ator". The McGee's moved to Dallas, Texas where Mark worked as a fire-alarm technician and Diana worked in the banking industry.

In the fall and winter Mr. McGee loved high school football, specifically Permian Mojos, and his favorite college football team, the University of Texas. His love of football included collecting "lots" of memorabilia from his favorite teams. The springs and summers before Mark had his disability were planned around outdoor water events. He was not one to believe in "Motel 6" although Diana wished he did; he wanted the rough and rugged terrain. One of their last vacations included Diana trying to get the motorcycle off the trailer and it falling on her. Mark was determined not to let his disability take his love of camping, boating and nature away. In fact, this year he planned for three weeks (all of Diana's vacation) to go camping and boating. He ignored the fact that he was not even able to walk, but he would always tell you that "I'll be walking in one year." For the rest of the year, it was NASCAR and movies.

Mark is survived his wife; Doris "Diana" McGee; three daughters; Casey Michele McGee Jobe of Keller, Texas; Kimberly Leigh McGee of Dallas, Texas; Apryl Dianne McGee of Tyler, Texas; one son, Ricky Joe McGee of Longview, Texas; and one son-in-law; Brandon Jobe of Keller; his mother, Helen McGee of Odessa, Texas; his brother, Rick McGee of Odessa, Texas and grand-daughter, Caitlyn Christian of Keller; grandchildren Xavier McGee, Ja'Kayla McGee of Tyler; Brandon McGee, Braydon-Mark Anthony McGee, Zachary McGee, and Zailey McGee of Longview; and 3 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father; "Fibber" McGee.
