For a father who died too young, Mark Howlett, 51, of Little Elm, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at the Medical City Hospital in McKinney.

Mark was born on November 5, 1969, in Orlando, Florida to Malvin Howlett and Elizabeth Ramsey Howlett. He attended St. Petersburg Community College, University of Central Florida, and Nova Southeastern University. He held a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership. He began his teaching and coaching career at Jones High School in Orlando, Florida and shortly thereafter relocated to Tampa, Florida teaching in Hillsborough County Schools where he met his wife, Mimi. Mark married Mimi Johnson on August 12, 1998, in Tampa, Florida. In 2006, Mark pursued a career change as a Financial Planner with Thrivent Financial Services in Florida, and eventually becoming a partner in Illinois and Texas. In 2018, he joined OneAmerica as the president of the Personal Economics Group. At the time of his passing, he was employed as a partner with New York Life.

Mark is survived by: his wife, Miriam "Mimi"; his four children, Seth (22), Zach (21), Leah (16) and Luke (16); his mother, Elizabeth Howlett; one brother, David Yeomans; and his sister, Beth Kirkwood. He was predeceased by his father, Malvin Howlett and his brother, Mike Yeomans.

A viewing for family and friends will be at Eastgate Funeral Home, 1910 Eastgate Drive in Garland, Texas, on Friday, September 3rd from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. The family will be there to welcome friends and relatives.

The funeral service will be at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 6400 Stonebrook Parkway in Frisco, Texas, on Saturday, September 4th at 10:30 am, with a lunch to follow at the church.

Mark was a dedicated husband and father who was most proud of his children, attending countless practices, games and events. He was a man of humor and relentless practical jokes. Although Mark loved all sports, baseball was his passion. To honor his memory and continue his legacy, the North Texas Scholarship Foundation Coach Mark Memorial Fund has been established to assist young baseball players whose families have difficulty covering the cost and expenses to play.
