Marie Stracener

Lanora "Marie" Stracener was peacefully called home to be with the Lord on May 3, 2015 in Mabank, Texas at the age of 88 years young.
Marie was the fifth of six children born to Luther and Lydia Cook. Marie is preceded in death by three siblings; Edith Smith, Lucille Cunningham and Daphne Hough. Marie is survived by her two siblings Pauline Piper and Marvin L. Cook.
Marie was born on July 8, 1926 in Tipton, Oklahoma, after moving to Dallas, Texas in 1946, she married her soul mate John Floyd Stracener in Dallas, Texas. Over the next few years, the couple welcomed two children into their home, Sheila Huskisson of Maybank, Texas and Paulette Smith of Sachse, Texas. Marie was a loving and devoted grandmother to six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
Grandchildren are: Tammy Traicoff, Kavin Bell, Mandy Harris, Patrickia Gramham, Jaime Dauzat and Don Smith Jr.
Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren are: John David Johnson, Mysti Traicoff, Alycha Johnson, Dallas Johnson, Danielle Johnson, Hunter Traicoff, Wade Huckabee, Sheila Bell Huchabee, Jeremiah Smith, Glenn Collins Jr., Thomas Collins, Madison Dauzat, Emily Smith, Ryan Smith and Alyson Rioz.
Marie was accomplished at gardening, cooking and reading; often generous with her time helping others. Marie was an active and dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in Sachse for 29 years and First Baptist Church Tipton, Oklahoma for 17 years. She often volunteered at the Historical Society of Sachse, Texas and was a lifetime member of Ladies of V.F.W. Auxiliary, a member of Fleur de Lis Garden Club bringing beauty to Sachse, Texas and a member of the Eastern Star. She was a former member of the Federation of Woman's club of Garland, and a Girl Scout assistant leader for 10 years. She worked at Dinettes and Barstools for 10 years. She also worked for 28 years as a secretery and in sales.
The funeral service is scheduled for: Friday, May 8th at 12:00 P.M. provided by Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, located at 2925 Fifth St. Sachse, Texas 75048. Viewing service will be held at Thursday, May 7th 2015 from 6-8 P.M.
Burial service: Restland Cemetery located at 10995 Greenville Ave. , Dallas, Texas 75243. Celebration of life to follow for immediate family and close friends at the ranch.
