Marie A. Cadenhead

Marie A. Cadenhead, age 85, passed peacefully in her sleep at her home in Dallas after a yearlong battle with leukemia on Wednesday, March 29, 2017.

Marie was born Jennie Marie Armor, to Homer and Julia Lillie Mauldin Amor near Bokchito, Oklahoma on February 15, 1932.

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister Marie is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dr. Clarence Tandy Cadenhead Jr., her children Cyndie Marie Davis (husband, Greg), Susan A. Parent (husband, Mike), Charles Tandy Cadenhead (wife, Diane). Marie is also survived by her grandchildren, John L. Grubbs, Sara Grubbs Polendo, Courtney Davis Schramm, Carrie Davis, Conly Davis, Ethan Parent, Emily Cadenhead and Conner Cadenhead. Marie, the middle child of eight, was blessed to have three surviving siblings, Glen Armor, Magdalene Whittington, and Albert Armor, along with many loved and treasured nieces, nephews, and longtime friends.

Marie dearly loved her family and did so with an unconditional and generous spirit. She greatly loved and supported her husband, including all his many hair-brained ideas and schemes. She will be remembered for her great faith, dignity, her southern hospitality, and her sheer Oklahoma grit and tenacity. This is evidenced by her moving the day after her high school graduation to Dallas, TX to start a job with Republic National Bank. It is at the bank where she met Linda who introduced Marie to her brother “Sonny.” Within five months Marie and C.T. married. She loved traveling with her family. She loved all things bright and cheery. She enjoyed playing chicken foot and 42 and could calculate a winning strategy within three plays. Marie will also be remembered for her love of the outdoors including her love for a manicured lawn and garden. This attention to the importance of lawn care frequently caused her to mow, trim, edge and prune the “garden” of her neighbor.

Marie’s Memorial Service will be held Saturday April 1st at 3:00PM at Wilshire Baptist Church, 4316 Abrams Rd Dallas, Texas. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Wilshire Baptist Church Library Fund or Bill Neal Scholarship Fund C/O Garth Clayton, Richland College 12800 Abrams Rd Dallas, TX 75243 in honor of Marie Cadenhead, would be appreciated.
