Margaret Jean Garland, age 79, passed away at home in Plano. She was born October 30, 1940 in Dallas, TX to Denia and Clifford Hutto. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, JC Garland in 2011.
Jean loved family get-togethers: she loved celebrating birthdays, holidays, graduations and weddings of family members and friends. If you were celebrating a joyous occasion, she was celebrating with you. Her favorite days were the ones where she was surrounded and loved on by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jean worked many years at Fisher Controls in McKinney, TX and also loved her Fisher family.
Jean was meek, soft-spoken and mild-mannered. She lived simply, but lived a life that was rich and full. She was a living example of the verses she had marked in her Bible: Matthew 6:19-21.
Jean is survived by her son Richard Sportsman, daughter and son-in-law Vickie and Sean Sullivan, grandchildren Karli Nicholson and her husband Cody, Kyle Kropik, Nicholas Sportsman, and Michael Sportsman, plus four great grandchildren: Chase, Kinsley, JC and Savannah, as well as her many nephews and nieces. All of these, she loved deeply.
Please join us in celebrating her life Saturday morning, December 7 at 10:00, at Charles Smith and Sons Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Lung Association, or to your local animal shelter.
