Marcia Ann Meyer

August 25, 1943 — September 21, 2024

Richardson

Marcia, a fierce matriarch and avid reader, was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 25, 1943 to Thomas and Dimple Tharp. In her childhood, Marcia grew a love for learning, excelling in her academics and graduating Alexandria High School (Alexandria, IN) in 1960 at the age of sixteen. This led to her pursuing a degree in Library Sciences with a minor in Journalism, graduating from Ball State University in 1964 and her Masters in Journalism shortly after. Motivated by her love for learning, Marcia began her career in education at Pendleton High School teaching English.

Marcia started her greatest life chapter when she welcomed her son, Charles “Chad” Henry Klakamp in 1969, and her daughter, Gina Ann (Klakamp) Aguilar, in 1972. Marcia continued teaching at Pendleton Heights as Chad and Gina went through the South Madison Community School Corporation in Pendleton, Indiana. As her children began to make their move to Texas, Marcia knew she needed to make the move, too, and she called Texas home in 2000. She stayed in Dallas for the remainder of her life, retiring from education in 2019 with a total 55 years of service to the next generation.

Marcia was a loving mother and grandmother who would always be there to talk if her granddaughters needed it, taxi them to and from, and spoil with the sweetest, most thoughtful gifts. Her daughter and each of her granddaughters pursued a career in education and it’s needless to say that she may have had something to do with that.

Marcia was welcomed into the arms of Jesus in the early hours of September 21, 2024 painlessly and surrounded by loved ones. Her family is beyond grateful that she is no longer suffering and reading the endless books at the greatest library there ever could be.

Marcia is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Dimple Tharp, brother Keith, husband Jack E. Klakamp, and husband Michael Joseph Meyer. She is survived by her brother, Tommy Tharp of Summitville, IN, son, Chad Klakamp and daughter Gina Aguilar (Mauricio), as well as her three granddaughters, Kathryn Ozols (Kevin), Kassandra Klakamp, and Karaline Klakamp, and her great-granddaughter, Reagan Ozols, all of the DFW area.

The visitation will take place on Saturday, September 28 from 10am to 12pm at the Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home in Sachse, TX. A graveside service will take place at the Mulberry Cemetery in Ravenna, Texas at 3pm.
