Marada Ann Jones

August 27, 1940 — April 2, 2019

Marada Ann Jones passed from this earthly life and gained her heavenly reward on April 2, 2019. Ann was born August 27, 1940 in Honey Grove, Texas to Earnest Edward Holland and Mittie Irene Lawrence Holland and was the youngest of three spunky sisters. Her older sisters were Lena Joe Clark and Imogene Dennis. Ann grew up in Bonham, Texas. As a teenager, she became convicted of her spiritual need, believed in Jesus, and was baptized into Christ, committing her life to the Lord. In April 1957 Ann met the love of her life, Virgil Wayne Jones, while cruising the square in downtown Bonham. Wayne asked Ann for her phone number but didn't write it down. Fortunately, a week later, he remembered the number and called Ann, asking her for a date to which she promptly said, "Yes!" During their courtship, Ann and Wayne were separated by many miles while Wayne served in the United States Army. The two were married on July 22, 1960 in Bonham, Texas and honeymooned on their drive from Bonham to Seattle, Washington where they lived an idyllic six months in a beach cottage while Wayne was stationed on Bainbridge Island at an army radar base.
After leaving Washington, the two moved to Dallas where Ann was employed at Republic National Bank as a secretary. They bought their first little home in Garland, Texas in 1965. Over the years Ann and Wayne were blessed with three daughters: Elaine, Emily, and Sharon. After the girls were born, Ann devoted herself to being a wife and homemaker, raising her girls "in the nurture and admonition of the Lord." When the girls grew older, Ann returned to the work force employed with Zales Corporation.
Throughout her life, Ann loved to sing. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ and praised him in song. She delighted in belting out the popular tunes from her teenage years. She also had an irresistible laugh and smiled with her crinkly "moon-eyes" that laughed along with her. Ann enjoyed daisies, antiques, knick-knacks, shopping, reading, clipping recipes, and talking…lots of talking! When she was younger, she sewed her daughters' clothes and enjoyed embroidery. After retirement, Ann valued spending time with her growing crowd of grandkids. Ann and her husband, Wayne, enjoyed traveling. Sometimes they hit the road for several weeks at a time, exploring God's beautiful world. Other times they just took off for a day and went on a drive, exploring a new area of the countryside or tracking down the beaten paths of their childhood hometown areas.
Ann is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Wayne; her three daughters and their husbands: Elaine and Tom Pledger, Emily and Tony Eldridge, and Sharon and Joshua Eiben; her grandchildren, Drake Pledger, Cierra and Matt Armstrong, Sophia Pledger, and Ethan Pledger; Devanne Jones, Brianna Eiben, Caleb Eiben, and Logan Eiben; Connor Eldridge, Landon Eldridge, and Ryder Eldridge. She is also survived by her nieces, Pat Williams and Judy Reed, whom she adored her entire life, and her nephew, Mike Clark who holds a special place in her heart as well. Additionally, she is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and their children, as well as many friends and Christian brothers and sisters who have touched her life over the years.
