Lucille Faye (Gehman) Myer, 86, of Sherman, Texas went to be with our Lord on Sunday, December 17, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.
Lucy was born on March 22, 1937 in New Holland, Pennsylvania to Harry and Mildred (Brendle) Gehman. Lucy graduated from New Holland High School in 1955. After high school, she married the love of her life, Jay Myer, in June of 1956. Together, they have three beautiful children, Vicki, Rick, and Yvonne. In 1967, they moved their family to Texas where she focused on raising their children and taking care of the home until 1972 when she became a driver’s education teacher. In 1983, they moved to Van Alstyne, Texas where she worked in various schools serving students in different capacities. Her passion was serving students. She loved each and every one of “her kids” and would often talk of their accomplishments. To end her career, she was a substitute teacher until her retirement at the age of 81. After retirement, she enjoyed travel, friends and her family.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, Jay, her parents, Harry and Mildred, sister, JoAnn, and granddaughter, Amy.
She is survived by her children, Vicki Songer, of Winder, GA, Rick Myer and wife Rae, of Howe, Texas, Yvonne McClelland and husband Tommy, of Sherman, Texas, grandchildren, Autumn Williams and husband Jason, of Princeton, TX, Cassie Songer of Winder, GA, Bobby Lay of Greenville, Texas, Ashley Lay, of Seattle, Washington, Matthew Myer, serving in the US Air Force, Sarah Noel and husband Jason, of Oklahoma, Brandy Shipp, of Anna, Texas, Justin Shipp and wife Taylor, of Kemp, OK, Jack McClelland, of McKinney, Texas, great-grandchildren, Jordan Thompson, Trystan Sanderson, Ensley Peppers, Collin Peppers, Bailee Winkles, Brayden Womack, Landry Shipp, Kenna Shipp, and Tatum Shipp as well as numerous other family members and friends.
She will be remembered for her loving nature, quick wit, and unwavering faith. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Wounded Warrior Project or the McKinney Education Foundation in her honor. A memorial service will be held on January 5, 2024 at 2PM at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home located at 601 S. Tennessee St. McKinney, Texas 75069.
