Lucas Eathen Barnes

October 11, 1992 — June 20, 2016

Our beautiful son Lucas E Barnes of McKinney TX, took his own life in the early morning hours of Monday, June 20th. He was 23 years old. Luke is survived by his mother & step father, Winnie and Chris Lowder of McKinney, TX, sister Emily (McKinney, TX), two step brothers, Zachary Lowder (Philadelphia, PA), Adam Lowder (New York, NY), grandmothers, Martha Wilson (McKinney, TX) and Betty Lowder (Mapleton, OR), and many Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends. Preceding Lucas in death is his father, William E. Barnes II, Grandmother, Shirley A Paysinger and grandfathers, Clarence Paysinger and Kenneth L Wilson.

Lucas honorably served our country in the 3rd Battalion 6thMarine Regiment, from 2011 – 2015 where he received many awards including the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, as well as (2) Sea Service Deployment Ribbons and (3) Expert Rifle Qualification Badges. Lucas was proud to serve his country. He made the world around us a brighter place with his contagious smile and huge heart. Our hearts are heavy. We don’t have all the answers. What we do know is that 22 military veterans take their own life each day. We know Lucas was a happy person who had a dark moment. We ask for all of you, to take time out of your busy life and reach out to a veteran that you may know – show them the love and support that they so desperately need and deserve.
