Louise Alberta Vollmer Rochester, of Dallas, Texas, our light and our love, went peacefully to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 21, 2021 at the age of 89.
She was born in Rush, New York on November 20, 1931 to Albert and Marie Katharine (Becker) Vollmer.
A true trailblazer, she moved from the farm to Boston to attend technical training at Leland Powers School of Elocution. She began a successful career in the television and radio broadcasting industry in 1948 in New York City. She later worked for KRGV-TV in Weslaco, Texas where she met station manager and the love of her life Monroe Millman Rochester, Jr, her "Schatz". They resided in Dallas, Texas and were happily married for 38 years until Schatz passed away on May 5th, 1995.
A faithful servant to the Lord and of St. Pius X parish, she volunteered with St. Vincent DePaul Society, in the church, the cafeteria and on the playground as the ever present 'yard guard'. She immensely enjoyed her Big Band music, playing cards, especially Bridge, as well as dominoes and crossword puzzles with her family.
A loving and generous mother, she nurtured her children in their faith of the Lord and to always "pay it forward" and help your fellow neighbor. No stranger was ever turned away.
She is preceded in death by her son Eric and survived by her sister, Mary DuBoise and her children Anne (Maury), Michael (Elizabeth), Monica (Linda), Teresa (Jeffrey), Moira (Shannon), and daughter-in-law Michelle (Carl). She is eternally loved by her grandchildren Sarah (Ricky), Jacob (Katie), Jordan, Adam, David, Charles, Daniel, Grace, Luke, Sam, Megan, and Brody, and many nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, and relatives in the greater State of New York.
Services will be held April 30, 2021 at 1:00 pm at St Pius X Catholic Church, 3030 Gus Thomason Rd, Dallas, TX 75228.
