Lloyd Dewitt Yarnell

Lloyd Dewitt Yarnell, 85, died Friday, April 1, 2011 at the Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center in Bonham, TX.



He leaves his wife of 61 years, Phyllis Yarnell; his daughter and son-in-law Sharyn & John Art of Allen; son and daughter-in-law Bryan & Debbie Yarnell of Lone Oak; daughter and son-in-law Kim & Patrick Costello of Frisco; and son and daughter-in-law Lyle & Evelyn Yarnell of Plano. He is also survived by his sister, Roberta Rathweg of Xenia, OH; grandchildren Stacy Polk of Allen, Christen Art of Lubbock, Daniel Yarnell, Dallas, Eden Yarnell of Rockwall, and Steven, Sophie and Christopher Yarnell all of Plano; and great-grandchildren Rylee and Mason Polk, both of Allen. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Thomas Yarnell, grandson Chase Dewitt Yarnell, and sister Olga Hoover of Brazoria.



He was born and raised in the Dayton, OH area, but was a resident of Plano, TX since 1966.



In 1945, he joined the U.S. Army, where he served in the infantry during World War 2, including the Battle of the Bulge.



VISITATION will be at Faith Lutheran Church,1701 East Park Blvd.,Plano, Texas 75074, Monday, April 4, 6pm " 8pm. FUNERAL SERVICE will be held Tuesday, April 5, at 10:30 am, Faith Lutheran Church. Internment with Military Honors following the funeral will be at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at 2:15 pm.
