Llona Joan Schaack

February 22, 1928 — August 23, 2013

We are sad to announce the passing of our dear sister, Llona Schaack. Llona was born in Panama to Llona and Alson Sears. She enjoyed a very active life in Panama and diving champion her senior year in high school. Llona worked for the American-Panamanian Embassy in Panama after college. Her grace and beauty and her bilingual ability attracted the attention of a manager for Pan American Airlines and she was asked to join Pan Am as a stewardess. She flew the world and became very knowledgeable with all the countries she visited. She rose to the position of grooming supervisor, writing the Pan Am manual for grooming, flying strictly as a supervisor in later years. Skilled in the proper application of make-up she worked with Eve of Roma cosmetics and later Polly Bergen cosmetics, training the girls who worked behind the counter. Llona married the love of her life Colonel Frank Schaack of the US Air Force on October 10, 1970. He preceded her in death July 9, 2000. The light went out of her eyes with the loss of her beloved Frank, but he was never out of her thoughts or conversation. Dearly loved by family members, Llona leaves her brother Alson, a retired Veterinarian and his wife Ruth, her brother Bill, a retired teacher and his wife Gail. Numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and friends, share in the loss of this most charming and vivacious lady.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
