Lisa Mann

March 3, 1967 — May 2, 2021

Lisa Marie Mann, age 54, passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 2, 2021.

Lisa was born in Mendota, IL on March 3, 1967 to Arthur and Helen (Briggs) Mann. She was raised in Keokuk, IA before moving to Dallas. She graduated from Keokuk High School in 1985 and then obtained her education degree from McMurray College in 1989. As a child, Lisa struggled with hearing loss, which led to her passion for working with the hearing impaired. She was fluent in American sign language and was truly an asset to the profession of deaf education. Lisa worked as a deaf education teacher and then continued her studies to obtain her Master's degree.

Lisa enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and lit up the room with her giggles and smiles. Lava Lisa (as she was known to her friends) became an active member of the Dallas area Parrot Head Club, attending numerous Jimmy Buffet related events and fundraisers for charities. She loved to travel, had a true love for the ocean, and always had a special place in her heart for rescue animals. Her rescue dogs were truly her fur babies and her love for them was abundant. Lisa will be remembered for her loyalty to family and friends and could always be counted on if you needed anything. Lifelong childhood best friend, Michelle Shelton, was an extremely important person in Lisa's life. Throughout the years they remained best friends and no amount of time or distance could separate them. Courtney Meador, another one of her best friends, was always there for Lisa to lean on and she remained loyal throughout Lisa's life. She could always count on Michelle and Courtney no matter what because spending time with them brought her so much happiness. She was fortunate to have these special women in her life.

Lisa was a beloved daughter who was always there for our mother Helen and would drop everything to be by her side. She also loved taking road trips to spend time with our brother Ed, sister-in-law Cheri and her niece Katie. She also loved her nephews James, Nicholas, and Jacob and was so proud of their accomplishments. Family was everything to Lisa and we were all so blessed to have her in our lives. Lisa was proceeded in death by her parents. Lisa is one of three siblings and is survived by her brother Ed Mann (Cheri) and sister Christine Mann. She was the dearly loved aunt to Katie, Nicholas, James, and Jacob. She leaves behind her beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins who she loved so much.

Memorial services will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk, IA at 10:00am, Saturday August 21, 2021. Friends and family are all welcome to attend.
