Lisa Ruth (Moore) Dunn

Lisa Ruth Dunn (nee Moore) passed away on April 3, 2024, in McKinney, Texas, at the age of 63. She was born on December 11, 1960, in Richmond, Indiana.

From an early age, Lisa had a remarkable drive, determination and a never-quit spirit. She excelled in sports early in her life as a Centerville High School Lady Bulldog, participating in volleyball, softball & basketball. As a young adult, she also participated in adult league softball, travelling to tournaments around the state of Texas, as well as volleyball and racquetball. Lisa also loved a competitive round of golf or a good tennis match.

Lisa would eventually be diagnosed with an autoimmune disease which would prove to be debilitating. However, Lisa faced each challenge with great strength, courage and determination, never giving up. That spirit was evident when her husband proposed, after a vacation to Albuquerque and Santa Fe, NM, that they move there. She was totally onboard. Once there, Lisa completely embraced the lifestyle, the culture, the diversity and of course the Famous New Mexican Cuisine. She enjoyed the many wine & food festivals; art shows and the yearly Santa Fe Indian Market. Her dry quirky sense of humor and straightforward nature endeared her to all who knew her. Lisa’s heart was truly always in the right place.

Lisa leaves behind her loving husband of 30 years, Mario Dunn, of McKinney, Texas and a family who will cherish her memory. She is survived by her sister Sue Burdett, sister Ona Moore of Richmond, Indiana. Mother-in-law Callie Dunn, of Mckinney, Tx., brother-in-law Mike Dunn and wife Amy Dunn of Lavon, Tx., brother-in-law Ronnie Burdett of Centerville, Indiana, brother-in-law Doug Campbell of West Carrollton, Ohio, aunt and uncle Giovanna and Tommy Colonnetta of Cypress, Tx., as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Lisa was preceded in death by her father Roy Moore, mother Ruth Moore, sister Mary Gaston, brother Jesse Moore, sister Bonnie Van Ausdal, sister Rebecca (Becky) Campbell and father-in-law Donald R. Dunn, sister-in-law Mary Dunn.

Lisa’s career was marked by dedication and hard work. She spent 10 years at Brookshire’s Grocery Co. As a Bakery/Deli Manager & Scanning Coordinator, 1 year at Eatzi’s/Brinker International in a key role and 8 years with Flintco, LLC as a Project Administrator for several large-scale construction projects at Los Alamos National Laboratories and The Historic Santa Fe Indian School. Lisa also served as an Assistant Project Manager at Los Alamos National Laboratories with Parsons Brinckerhoff.

Lisa worshipped, when possible, at New Life Tabernacle in Little Elm, Texas, where she found inspiration from God’s Word and great fellowship.

When possible, Lisa enjoyed being outdoors, cooking and tending to her plants. Lisa also enjoyed watching The Food Network, most recently college and professional football, The PBR and if possible, a live rodeo in Mesquite or the Ft. Worth Stockyards.

A Memorial Celebration of Life Service for Lisa will be scheduled and announced at a future date. The family requests donations be made to UT Southwestern (Rheumatology & Internal Medicine) or The Collin County Animal Services in lieu of flowers.

Charles W. Smith & Sons, McKinney, Texas is assisting the family.
