Linda Mae Fisher Hix was born in Lorena, Texas on November 26, 1931. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on July 5, 2021 in Garland, Texas.
She was born to parents Mattie Lorraine McGuire Fisher and Charlie Beachum Fisher, and was the oldest daughter of 7 children, Charles R. Fisher, Betty Jo Morris, Esther Ruth Hanusch, James Daniel Fisher, Naomi Faye Vining, and Michael Cochram.
Linda married the love of her life James H. Hix on November 30, 1957. They had two children, James (Jimmy) H. Hix, Jr. and Terrie Lynn Manning. She had 4 grandchildren, Tyler, Tatum, Taylor, and Jayden, and 3 great-grandchildren, Peyton, Haylee, Callie, and 1 great-grandchild on the way, Trace.
Linda worked for and retired from the federal government in the Social Security Administration as an Administrative Assistant.
She attended the local NARFE chapter where she served as treasurer for many years.
Linda and her husband attended the SouthMinster Presbyterian Church in Garland from 1968 to 2016 where she assisted in the church office among other leadership roles. She has since attended the First Presbyterian Church of Garland until present day where she and her husband volunteered for the Saturday community breakfast outreach.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Charles, James, and Michael.
She is survived by: her husband of 62 years; her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Linda had many roles, but one of her most prized was being a Nana, and was the matriarch of her family. She will be missed dearly and deeply. The family has comfort in knowing she is in her heavenly home. Her memories will be cherished by many friends, family, and anyone who knew her.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 9th from 5-7pm at Eastgate Funeral Home located in Garland. Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 10th at 11am at First Presbyterian Church of Garland.
